UPDATE ON DR. CARMONA'S CARAO-FOR-ANEMIA STUDY
On March 15, 2004, I traveled to the capital city of Costa Rica, San Jose, for an interview with Dr. Luis Carmona.
[For those of you who have not heard of Dr. Carmona, he is the Costa Rican M.D. who is conducting a study of CAPcarao Natural Blood Builder (100% pure extract of carao)for anemia.
There are currently 10 patients involved in the study.
Most of these 10 have already completed the treatment period (4 weeks).
Dr. Carmona is now gradually collecting the post-carao blood work data for this first group of 10.]
As anticipated, there has been some difficulty in collecting all the patient data, since once a patient is cured of his anemia, he is often not anxious to return to the clinic for post-anemia blood tests!
Also, several of the patients do not have telephones, making contact difficult.
However, Dr. Carmona shared the results of the first 3 patients with me.
I do not have the names and ages, but I am promised full details once all the data is in.
Also, Dr. Carmona has promised to write and publish an article in the country's largest newspaper, La Nación.
Dr. Carmona told me that 2 of the patients had an increase in hemoglobin from roughly 8 to above 13.
The third patient showed only about a single point of increase in hemoglobin.
However, in a recent communication he said that another blood test showed no improvement.
Dr. Carmona was very enthusiastic about these results, which he says shows a definitive "correction"
of anemia by the use of carao.
He pointed out to me that the patients did not receive ANY other treatment (no iron supplement), and they were all warned not to make any major changes in diet during the treatment period.
Dr. Carmona will be adding 10 more patients to the study.
I have donated another 21 large bottles of CAPcarao extract to him for this purpose.
I want to stress that these are preliminary results.
Full details will be made available as soon as the study concludes.
I have also been in touch with Dr. Carmona's daughter Ligia, who is completing her master's degree in chemistry.
She has selected carao as her graduate project.
She has promised to provide me with another chemical analysis.
I believe this will include analysis for sugar concentration and sugar types.
(CAPcarao Natural Blood Builder contains a relative high concentration of naturally-occurring sugar from the carao fruit.)
